No, we do not recommend using Crystal Gel without heat. This is because heat helps open the cuticle allowing for deeper penetration to remove more mineral buildup. Without heat the cuticle will not swell and the service won’t be as effective.

Timing depends on your location, the amount of buildup, and your professional opinion. Light buildup requires 5-20 minutes, while heavy buildup, first Crystal Gel recipients, and heavy iron deposits require longer.

Crystal Gel is safe for all hair types, including color-treated hair. However, if color was applied over mineral buildup, Crystal Gel may remove that buildup and, in turn, can potentially remove some of the color resting on it. For best results, always perform a Crystal Gel service before any color application to ensure the cleanest canvas and the most predictable color results.

 It's best to follow your Crystal Gel service with Malibu C Un-Do-Goo Shampoo, specially formulated to help remove mineral buildup and neutralize the pH of any remaining vitamin C from the Crystal Gel. Other shampoos may not properly swell the cuticle, which is essential for effectively removing minerals from the hair.
