About

The Miracle League of Columbia at Maury County Park was formed in 2021 by a group of Columbia natives who had a dream of bringing a Miracle League program and all-inclusive playground to their old stomping grounds in Columbia. All the pieces are in place to make this project happen and now we just need you! Check us out and connect with us on how you can be involved!

The first Miracle League field opened in 2000 and was designed to give kids ages 5-19 with disabilities the chance to play America's favorite pastime, baseball. Together with brothers Mike and Daniel Uggla, Robin Estep began the dream of forming a Columbia chapter of the national organization. Daniel, a former MLB player began his baseball career in Columbia, Tennessee. The Miracle League offers the perfect opportunity for him to give back to the community that gave him his start on a successful baseball career.

The eventual home of the field and park holds special meaning to the Uggla family as well as many others. The Babe Ruth Field was a staple in youth baseball in this community for over 40 years and played a big role in Daniel’s love for the game. We are excited to see the vacant field that holds so many memories be transformed into such a meaningful endeavor.

portrait of Taye Ramer

Meet Taye

Taye Ramer is the light of my family's life. He brings so much joy to every day and is the most loving kid you will ever meet. Taye was adopted in 2011 from Ethiopia and shortly after returning to the U.S., they learned he had a rare brain disorder. Taye has defied all the odds placed against him and achieved successes that statistics and doctors didn't think he may meet.

Because of organizations like the Miracle League, Taye is able to play on a team and have a coach just like his big brother. After seeing his games at the Miracle League of Murfreesboro, it became my mission to bring one of these closer to home for Taye and kids like him. Inclusion matters, and it is my goal to make sure these kids are seen and heard through programs such as this. I hope you will join me on this mission. Together, we can make a difference for these kids. -Robin Estep
